sombr Performs “back to friends” & Phoebe Bridgers' “Motion Sickness” on BBC Radio 1's Piano Sessions

American singer-songwriter sombr appeared on BBC Radio 1's Piano Sessions to perform “back to friends” and a cover of American singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers' “Motion Sickness”.
This marks his debut on Radio 1's Piano Sessions as a musical guest. The video was filmed at the BBC's Maida Vale studios.
“back to friends” was released as the lead single from his debut album “I Barely Know Her” in December 2024.
The track reached No. 7 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart.
It was written and produced by sombr.
Following the success of the song, he was nominated for Best New Artist at the 2026 Grammy Awards.
The ceremony will take place at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 1, 2026.- sombr told Billboard about the song, “I think they gave me a platform to make more upbeat music. Before 'Back to Friends,' all my music was very ballad-y - there was nothing with a beat. I was so tired of that. I feel like this is a lot more free, as far as the music I want to create. And I wanted my show to be more exciting. I didn't want to just do ballads forever.”
The original version of “Motion Sickness” was released by Phoebe Bridgers as the second single from her debut album “Stranger in the Alps”.
The track was written by Phoebe Bridgers and Marshall Vore. Produced by Tony Berg and Ethan Gruska. -
sombr said of the song, “It's not something I do very often, so [it's] a good change. Don't get used to it. I've been wanting to do a Phoebe cover for a while now, so I think this worked out great.” - source : BBC Radio 1's Piano Sessions
