Malu Pierini Releases New Song “Pourquoi”
Danish-Corsican singer-songwriter Malu Pierini will release her upcoming debut album “Libera Me” on January 30, 2026.
The album comprises 10 tracks that braid her family's history with threads of French elegance, Nordic melancholy, and modern soul.
From the album, she unveiled a new song “Pourquoi” on January 9, 2026.
The song is the fifth single off of the album, following “Bernard”, “Libera Me”, “Souvenir”, and “Just For Us”.
It is about her grandmother, who fell into a love story that turned out to be more complicated than she had imagined in Paris.
The track was written by Amalie Bryde, J.Ar.J, Marie-Louise Pierini Lüders, and Nicholas Kincaid. Produced by Nicholas Kincaid and Oliver Kincaid.
The accompanying music video was directed by Julie Montauk.- Malu Pierini said of the song, “The song is about my grandmother, who travelled to Paris as a young dancer, drawn in by the spotlight and a sweeping romance. But slowly she realised life was not the dream she had imagined. ’Pourquoi’ is, on one level, about giving everything to a love that does not return the same devotion - and about how I’ve found myself repeating her story in my own blind corners and patterns. Yet the song is also deeply existential: it explores how the smallest choices ripple across time, eventually carrying me - sixty years later - onto a stage just as she once stood.”
