As It Is Announces New Self-Titled Album, Shares New Song “Ruin My Life” featuring Murray Macleod

Brighton-based pop-punk band As It Is, consisting of Patty Walters (vocals/guitar), Ben Biss (guitar/vocals), Patrick Foley (drums) and Ali Testo (bass), has announced their upcoming self-titled fifth album will be released on July 17, 2026 via FLG.
From the album, the band released a new song “Ruin My Life” on January 7, 2026.
The song is the second single off of the album, following “Lose Your Way & Find Yourself” released last September.
On the track, they teamed up with Scottish alt-rock band The XCERTS' Murray Macleod.
It was written by Alistair Testo, Benjamin Biss, Patrick Foley, and Patrick Walters. Produced by Kel Pinchin.
The accompanying music video was directed by Ian Coulson.
The band front man Patty Walters said of the song, “We're so excited to share with the world 'Ruin My Life,' a reckless love song about the band and all we've been through together. It's a celebration of getting back together and a nod to all the mistakes we made along the way. We're not the only band to have made amazing memories and catastrophic choices in equal measure, but we couldn't tell the story of our band by omitting either. Without our unbreakable friendship, we wouldn't have survived, and this song is about the love that got us to the other side of the darkness. We wrote this song with Murray from The Xcerts, so it only felt right to have him with us in the studio and his voice on the recording. We wouldn't have this song, truly one of our all-time favorites, without him.”- The new album comprises 12 tracks, featuring a guest appearance from Murray Macleod, produced by Kel Pinchin.
It is their first album in four years, following the 2022 album “I WENT TO HELL AND BACK”. Also it is the first record in eight years since the four of them made a studio album together.
The band guitarist Ben Biss said of the album, “This is an amalgamation of the last 12 years as well as a new level of honesty and transparency. This is the core and crux of who we are. We're never going to change from now on. It really is more about our relationship with each other and how, through everything, the four of us still have this bond, both as friends and musically. That has been tested a lot through the years, and these songs are now a real testament to our overarching brotherhood and love for each other.” -
Patty Walters added, “This is the spirit and intention of the joy that formed AS IT IS in the first place. It is reconnecting with the kids that we were when we started to write songs. And now, we're showing up with life in our eyes. We can listen to and support each other. This is the most in control and confident the band has been in a long time, but also the most proud. In the past, I had no choice but to be in AS IT IS. This new era of the band is my choice. Our choice. A choice. But in having it back, it means having maybe the biggest piece of myself back, too.” - source : Apple Music
