  • Donovan Covers J.J. Cale's “the sensitive kind”

  • Scottish singer-songwriter Donovan released his new album “what's a girl” on December 22, 2025, in celebration of his sixtieth anniversary.

Originally, the album was recorded as his 18th studio album in 1993, but was never officially released. At that time, it was distributed through the fanzine Donovan's Friends on cassette tape.
The album comprises 12 tracks, produced by Donovan and Bob Rose.
From the album, he released a cover of American singer-songwriter and guitarist J.J. Cale's “Sensitive Kind” as “the sensitive kind” on December 29, 2025.
The original version of the song was featured on J.J. Cale's fifth studio album “5”, which was released 1979.
It was written by J.J. Cale. The cover version was produced by Donovan and Bob Rose.

Donovan said of the song, “This third Single is written by the Great JJ Cale 'Sensitive Kind'. Hello to JJ Cale's family and fans everywhere. I honour JJ Cale with my version of his amazing song... with the great Robbie Blunt on guitar. The photo is my Muse and Wife Linda.”
  • He said of the album, “In this last Month of my Sixtieth Anniversary Celebration Year of 2025, I present an album of my much loved fusions of Metal, Folk, Gaelic Romance, Orchestral Classical Folk, Grunge Pop and Poetry. I have never released these tracks officially until now. They escaped for a while as bootlegs. And now as a fitting Finale to my 2025 D60, here they are. So wishing you all a Kool Yule and a Peaceful New Year!”
