Laufey Performs “Lover Girl” on SiriusXM Hits 1

Icelandic-Chinese jazz singer-songwriter Laufey appeared on SiriusXM Hits 1 to perform “Lover Girl”.
The song was released as the third single from her third studio album “A Matter of Time” in June 2025.
She wrote the song in Tokyo during her Bewitched Tour and recorded it in Los Angeles.
It was written and produced by Laufey and Spencer Stewart.
Before SiriusXM Hits 1, she performed it on Good Morning America, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and Apple Music The Zane Lowe Show.
The album “A Matter of Time” was nominated for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album at the 2026 Grammy Awards.
The ceremony will be held at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 1, 2026.- Laufey said of the song, “I wrote this song while I was on tour in Japan. It was just something that kind of came out of me. I was staying in this hotel room that was on a really, really high floor, and I kind of felt like I was getting vertigo, and I was really missing a certain someone, and I was like, 'Okay, this is I need to write.' It was one of those moments where I needed to like get the feelings out in song. It was one of those rare songs that it sounds so complete in the recorded rendition. Like, there are some songs where a voice memo I'm like, 'Was that better?' But this is one of those songs that I immediately was like, the production and everything just really made it so unique, and it made me love the song more.”

She continued, “I've always been this type of person that thought I'd never fall in love. Like so many of my songs are about how like, I'm known as the falling behind girl, and a lot of songs of unrequited love. This one's different in that it's about being in love and how it can make you a little bit crazy and it's kind of looking back and being like, 'Oh my God, I've become this person that I used to make fun of this loveydovey loopy girl.' I live very far away from my family, live far away from my sister, and I've always thought so much of how it can be a bit of a curse to love someone, because it means you miss them when they're far away and they can hurt you. And so I kind of just wanted to write a song that described that feeling.” - source : SiriusXM
