Florence Road Performs “Miss” & Cover of Phoebe Bridgers' “Georgia” on triple j Like A Version
Irish alt-rock band Florence Road, consisting of Lily Aron (vocals), Emma Brandon (guitar), Ailbhe Barry (bass) and Hannah Kelly (drums), appeared on triple j Like A Version to perform “Miss” and a cover of American singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers' “Georgia”.
This marks their first appearance on Like A Version.
“Miss” was released back in October. It was written by Edward David George, Hannah Kelly, and Lily Aron. Produced by John Hill.
The band said of the song, “We wrote this song with Woody last Jan and recorded it with John Hill in LA. This song is about missing someone not just in the quiet moments, but when you are in a room full of people... and wishing you could experience it together.”- “Georgia” is featured on Phoebe Bridgers' debut album “Stranger in the Alps”, which was released in 2017. It was written and produced by Phoebe Bridgers.
The band lead singer Lily Aron told triple j why they chose the song, “It was tough to kind of pick a song, because there's so many great songs out there, but Hannah had gone to see Phoebe Bridgers in Ireland, and she played 'Georgia', which she doesn't normally do. And I think that kind of stuck in Hannah's brain, and she was like, 'What if we did 'Georgia'?' And we all love the song, and we normally rock out, so it was kind of nice to do something a little more stripped back.” -
She continued, “I just think she's so cool. I really, I really think she's such a beautiful lyricist, and I look up to her a lot. I think she's the bomb. Georgia is such a beautiful song. It's so emotionally driven. And I feel like, when I get up to the belting, it's like, I feel it so much in my whole body.
