Kay tear Releases New Song “celestial existence”
Chinese-American singer-songwriter and producer Kay tear released her brand new song “celestial existence” on December 12, 2025.
The song is the follow-up to “FRIEND THAT TASTES GOOD”, which was released back in February.
It is a dark, intimate, bass-heavy journey through the remaining memories of an unfaithful relationship.
The track was written and produced by Kay tear. Flute samples were recorded by Robin Wong in a free improv session, then picked out and chopped by Kay tear.
Kay tear said of the song, “This was born out of a really confusing and disorienting time of life...I tried to embrace those emotions as much as I could to create something meaningful out of that time. there were whole days I just spent trying to choose the right sounds, chopping the bass in perfect alignment with the drums, and of course digging through my snare library for hours. putting enough space for all the bgvs and the synth, side chaining fucking everything to get that unsteady wavelike sound. I'm grateful I was able to finish this, with the support of many incredible friends, family members, and peers.”- She added, “A huge thanks to Robin Wong for the incredible flute, all i said was 'play on this scale' and he gave us that. An incredibly intuitive and adventurous musician and artist. Thank you so much to Will Stewart and his absolutely insane melodyne skills. The most talented singer I know to this day. Thank you to Elizabeth Engle for the album cover photo, my first time doing a photoshoot like this and she was an incredible director. (just so everyone knows we were in a field and she straight cut her leg on some spikes and wouldn't stop the shoot. A PROFESSIONAL if i've ever seen one)”
