Sigrid Performs “Home To You (This Christmas)” on BBC Radio 1's Piano Sessions
Norwegian singer-songwriter Sigrid appeared on BBC Radio 1's Piano Sessions to perform “Home To You (This Christmas)”, “Two Years”, American singer-songwriter Chappell Roan's “The Subway” and British rock band Radiohead's “High and Dry”.
This marks her second appearance on Radio 1's Piano Sessions since 2018.
“Home To You (This Christmas)” was released a festive holiday version of “Home To You” in 2021.
The original version of the song was featured on the original motion picture soundtrack of “The Aeronauts” in 2019.
Sigrid said of the song, “'Home To You (Christmas)' has always had a Christmas spirit since we wrote it. It's about my hometown and the house I grew up in with my family. I always go back for Christmas, so it felt natural to make a Christmas version. I hope it'll give some cozy vibes when it's getting darker outside.”- “Two Years” is featured on her third studio album “There's Always More That I Could Say”, which was released back in October.
It was written by Askjell Solstrand, Fredrik Svabø, and Sigrid Solbakk Raabe. Produced by Askjell Solstrand, Sigrid Solbakk Raabe, and James Ford.
She said told Apple Music about the song, “We usually write in this really old studio in Bergen. It's like a shed and there's definitely mold on the outside, but I love it. It makes me feel like 19 again because it's the studio we've been working in since day one. That's where 'Fort Knox' was written, but we were like, 'Maybe we should go somewhere else and get some inspiration.' So we went to Tokyo and rented this really cool studio, and I had this idea for a piano hook. I knew the rhythm I wanted, referencing some of my favorite French dancey-but-cool songs, like Phoenix and Justice. It's written from someone else's perspective, and I'm trying to see the situation from another point of view, but it's also this chaotic dance. It was basically a competition for me and Askjell to see how many key changes we can fit into this song. Towards the end, it spirals.” -
“The Subway” was released by Chappell Roan back in July. The song reached No.1 on the UK Singles Chart and No. 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
