  • Fred again.. told Zane Lowe of Apple Music about the album, “[USB] is just an endless album that I'll add to forever. Hopefully one day it'll have 200 songs on it. I like most the feeling of creating in a dialogue, like when the thing feels living and breathing. I'm playing edits all the time that are something I made that day-playing it that night and learning what I feel about it there. I think about [albums] as really intense and long-winded and they need to be diary entries and they need to feel like whole statements. And with this, it's like, would I put these songs on my USB, and would I want to play them tonight for people? That's the test.”

  • Fred again.. explained some tracks for the album.

    “solo” with Blanco
Fred again..: “I really love how people all hear this song differently. Like everyone I've played it to seems to find a sort of different feeling inside of it. Blanco's words are really powerful but then the chords sorta fight them with positivity and the drums and bass alone are sorta colder feeling - I love it when people take different things from songs. This is arian and paola. After the show in san francisco, theo shot this really special video of them. Thankyou so much to them for letting us share it here. ”

Blanco: “For me Solo is about the kind of loneliness you might carry even when you're surrounded by people. That feeling of growing up and going through shit that changes you and learning to stand alone. Rainy days or not I was never really by myself I had people around me that held me up & sheltered me throughout my whole life and ever since I started my music journey. Can't lie Fred made all the pieces fit together its the Solo Gang.”

    “ICEY..” with BIA
“I been trying to sample BIA's voice for years cos I'm obsessed wit how smooth her flow always is. This was actually I think the first song I was working on when we were dreaming of doing these USB002 shows at the end of last year. So its been a real thrill to play it out over and over again in little clubs and keep honing it over the last year. Infinite shoutouts to BIA for being such a good too.”

    “..FEISTY” with BIA
“Everyone I know basically sent me this video of him dancing to rumble in the last month. And if you haven't seen it it's inSANE. He turns off gravity at one point just for a sec. So we asked him if he wanted to shoot a video for this record in Vancouver. When I asked him if he wanted to listen to the song in advance.. he said no (!!!). he said it's best when he just freeestyles. that blew my mind, I'd always thought these things were like meticulously choreographed!”

“Winny” with Sammy Virji and Winny
“I know we're on more than 1 song a week right now and I absolutely don't care. In fact I do care, very much. I actually am loving the way this is feeling. It feels alive. And things are happening naturally and feeling good so I'm going wit them. 1 hundreedddd percent theres a lot of super weird pressures that sometimes come with it that I'm really very new to navigating really and can get super overhwhelmed by. And I'd hate to accidentally be one of those people whose presenting things as more shiny than they are you know". Because sometimes I really don't feel shiny at aaaall! I think part of it is obviusly jus like if I'm sad or feeling whatever else, those are often not the moments where I'm like 'oh sick I should film this! that would go hard.'”

    “Beto's Horns” with CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso
“This is the Ezra Collective remix of Betos Horns, the Ezra guys are absolute dons and one of my favourite things I've done in music is lose a Mercury prize to them. They are Glastonbury set sowed the seeds for an entire new generation of musicians it felt like. The ripples of what they've done and will continue to do will be felt for a very very long time. Femi and Joe and I were actually all at the same music college but we didn't meet then weirdly! Maybe because I only lasted a year there, but I do remember very clearly watching joe playing keys at a lunch time recital and he went into a solo while I was sat on my own having a BLT sandwich and it was totally unholy what he did to the keys for 1 pm on a Tuesday afternoon. We had one take to record this all together and I love the moment we captured.”

“HARDSTYLE 2” with KETTAMA and Shady Nasty
“This is me, KETTAMA, Shady Nasty, our friend Dan on drums, Amber from Japanese house on some little vocals. Drums are all live. We've been working on this for the last like nine months. We've been working a lot with Dan Mayo and Philo Tsoungui as well, who we've been touring with. They're two of the sickest drummers in the world, and on this team, Dan's playing. So we've spent the last kind of couple years working a lot on how to produce live drums in a way that it can still be playable, but it doesn't. It still retains the liveness, and it absolutely is playing. It's totally real. But then we've like, gone crazy in on, like, super intricate gating and all sorts of things. That means that it can knock and snap in the right ways that we want it to. But the drums on this to me.”

“Talk of the Town” with Sammy Virji and Reggie
“Some songs I work on take months or even years for me to feel happy with them, this is one of those ones that was about 27 minutes. Basically 3 elements and they jus felt good from the jump and didn't stop feeling good so here we are! Shoutout to irelands very own Reggie and Sammy Virji of course.”

“you're a star” featuring Amyl and The Sniffers
“Some USB songs are a bit deeper to me and this is one of those. It's like the feeling of tryna clawwww someone you love out of a hole like in the midst of all kindsa chaos and misfortune and heaviness. But like you know they're a fuckin starrrr you just need to try and lift them up just enough to see the mirror for a second! and talking of fuckin stars Mrs Amy Sniffer. What an absolutely legend. It's been beyond a joy getting to know Amy thru this and her and the Sniffers are one of the sickest bands in the world. Australia we miss you. Last week I asked Amyl and her best friend to shoot a music video for our song. this is what they sent back.”
