Rebecca Black Performs “Sugar Water Cyanide” & Cover of Addison Rae's “Fame is a Gun” on triple j Like A Version
American singer-songwriter Rebecca Black appeared on triple j Like A Version to perform “Sugar Water Cyanide” and a cover of American singer-songwriter Addison Rae's “Fame is a Gun”.
This marks the first time Rebecca Black has performed on Like A Version.
Rebecca Black said, “I've watched Like A Version for years. Years, obviously in the States we don't get in on the radio. And being able to do a live performance on the radio, feels like a piece of like, timeless pieces of the industry that don't exist too much anymore. I've always loved seeing people reimagine certain songs. So it was such an honour. It was so exciting. It was so, like, creatively fulfilling to be able to be a part of something.”
“Sugar Water Cyanide” is featured on her latest project “Salvation”, which was released back in February.
It was written by Rebecca Black and produced by Nightfeelings.
Rebecca Black said of the song, “'Sugar Water Cyanide' is like if my drug of choice were a person. This is one of those songs that feels as though it's been inside of me my whole life and was waiting for the right day and time to be ready for it to pour out. I wanted to make that song you could only really hear on 100% volume in your car or busting through the bass in the club.”- “Fame is a Gun” was released by Addison Rae as the fifth single from her debut album Addison in May 2025.
The song reached the top forty of the charts in the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.
Rebecca Black told triple j why she chose to cover “Fame is a Gun”, “I chose to cover 'Fame is a Gun', because it's honestly one of my favourite songs of the year. I am so proud of what Addison has done. I think it's so exciting to see somebody really dive into reinvention and it's something I really resonate with.
