Karnivool Releases New Song “Opal”

Australian rock band Karnivool, consisting of Ian Kenny (vocals), Drew Goddard (guitar), Jon Stockman (bass), Mark Hosking (guitar) and Steve Judd (drums), released a new song “Opal” on December 2, 2025.
The song is the third single off of their upcoming fourth studio album “IN VERSES”, following “Aozora” and “Drone”.
The album is set to be released on February 6, 2026 via Cymatic Records and Sony Music. It is their first album in 13 years since the 2013 album “Asymmetry”.
The album comprises 10 tracks, featuring a guest appearance from Guthrie Govan, produced by Forrester Savell.
The track was written by Drew Goddard, Ian Kenny, Jon Stockman, Mark Hosking, and Steve Judd. Produced by Forrester Savell.
The accompanying music visualiser was directed by Adam Rule and Joshua De Boer.- The band guitarist Drew Goddard said of the song, “The riff in the middle and end was actually the first thing I recorded in the Themata era, on a computer at my parents’ house. Twenty years later, it found its place here. Jon dug it up, and we made it feel more current. The verse that starts with ‘You’ve been holding up...’ was a section left off ‘Aeons’ from Asymmetry. The whole track came together in a way we’ve never really experienced before—these old, separate ideas suddenly just fell into place.”
