Red Hot Chili Peppers' Flea Releases New Song “A Plea”

American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers' bassist Flea released his solo single called “A Plea” on December 2, 2025.
The song is the first single off of his upcoming solo album, which is set to be released in early 2026.
It was written by Flea and produced by Josh Johnson.
The accompanying music video was directed by his daughter, photographer and filmmaker Clara Balzary.
On the track, he is going back to his early roots as a trumpet player.
The track features Flea on vocals, bass and trumpet, Anna Butterss on upright bass, Deantoni Parks on drums, Jeff Parker on guitar, Mauro Refosco on percussion, Rickey Washington on alto flute, Vikram Devasthali on trombone, Chris Warren on vocals, and Josh Johnson on alto saxophone
Flea described the song as “yearning for a place beyond, a place of love, for me to speak my mind and be myself.” He continued, “I'm always just trying to be myself. I don't care about the act of politics. I think there is a much more transcendent place above it where there's discourse to be had that can actually help humanity, and actually help us all to live harmoniously and productively in a way that's healthy for the world. There's a place where we meet, and it's love.”- Flea said of the song, “This is a song, the first song from an album that I made that I'm putting out, and I've recorded something that really is the essence of me, the best of me, and I'm really excited that I've been able to articulate the best part of who I am. My relationship to the world, and how I hope for a higher level of discourse amongst human beings.”
He continued, “The video is directed by Clara Balzary, which also articulates the best of me, and it's a rare case of a video really, really has the spirit of the song. And they go together in a beautiful way. It's something that I'm enormously excited to share with everybody, and I hope that you enjoy it.” -
He added, “This recording is just straight rock. I made my own record. I had the privilege of working with just amazing musicians, Josh Johnson, Deantoni Parks, Anna Butterss, Nate Walcott, Jeff Parker, Rickey Washington, Vikram Devasthali, Mauro Refosco all these beautiful musicians who joined me in helping me to realize my vision, and I hope that you like it.” - source : Apple Music
