Lewis Capaldi Drops New Music Video for Orchestral Version of “The Day That I Die”
Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi released a new music video for the orchestral version of “The Day That I Die”, directed by Jack Lowe, on December 2, 2025.
The original version of the song is featured on his new EP “Survive”, which was released last month.
He recorded the reimagined version with a 52-piece orchestra and choir, featuring a new arrangement by Sam Swallow.
The video was filmed at the iconic Lyndhurst Hall in London's Air Studios.
Lewis Capaldi said, “It's Lewis Capaldi here. This is my reimagined version of 'The Day That I Die'. We're near studios in Hampstead, and we're recording, the reimagined version of 'The Day That I Die' for Amazon Music. I think it's doing fine. Yes, playing the piano on it, poorly, but it's been going well, I think. They asked us to do it. And I said, yes. And we'll just f**k, fix it in post.”- The track was written by Lewis Capaldi and Sam Roman. Produced by Peter Fenn, RØMANS, Andrew Wells, Connor McDonough, and Riley McDonough.
Lewis Capaldi said of the song, “This is a tune I wrote about the lowest I've felt in my life and truth be told it feels a bit weird putting it out there for people to hear but I'm honestly the proudest I've ever been about a song with this one.
