  • South Arcade Releases New EP “PLAY!”

  • British pop rock band South Arcade, consisting of Harmony Cavelle (vocals), Harry Winks (guitar), Ollie Green (bass), and Cody Jones(drums), released their second EP “PLAY!” on November 28, 2025 via BKM Artists and LAB Records.

It is their first project in almost a year since the 2024 debut EP “2005”.
The EP comprises 5 tracks, produced by Harry Winks. The band wrote the songs during their tour this year.

The band said of the EP, “PLAY! is an EP almost entirely written on the road whilst we have been out touring this year! So the tracks on this have definitely been inspired by what we think the crowds will like live and what we think people will like in our future sets. It's a super fun EP and definitely shows us trying more genres that exist within the Y2K sphere and can't wait to hear what people think! The title came from the idea of playing all these shows back to back and keeping the energy up! Whilst also toying with the idea of pressing play on a movie or playing video games which is what life has kinda felt like for all of us at the minute!”
  • The band lead singer Harmony Cavelle told Sian Eleri of BBC Radio 1 about the EP title, “I think if I'm being honest, it's actually, like one of the songs, chorus lines says, like, 'I miss this game so much, I think I want to play.' But you're totally right, like, it's that kind of that all encompassing thing, like, in all our natures, like we're really inside the whole gaming thing. So that's to do with playing and playing live we love and that whole like, taking the Mickey H, everything, like, everything light hearted and just like trying to have a good time.”

  • The band explained track-by-track for the EP.

    “Drive Myself Home”
“'Drive Myself Home' is about realising that time spent on something or the history attached to it isn't the reason to hold on. What was right once may not be right now and letting go doesn't make you a bad person, it just means you're doing what's best for you.”

    “Bleed Out” via DORK
“That one was inspired by memes that kept popping up on our phones. Different pictures of knights in armour in snowy settings with the caption 'The urge to slowly bleed out here'. We thought, let's make a fun song to go with this picture – something funny but also kind of dark and pretty.”

    “Supermodels”
“We wanted to push the limits of having a 2000s pop-punk accessible tune that then turns out to have the most obnoxious dance break in it. We just wanna keep doing things our listeners won't expect from us but at the same time referencing Y2K aspects in true South Arcade fashion. We also just wanted to write another really fun track especially with the lyrics on this one being so tongue-in-cheek.
We can't wait to play it at the festivals this year and see people's reactions.”

    “FEAR OF HEIGHTS”
“'FEAR OF HEIGHTS' is about that moment when comfort turns into a cage. When life gets monotonous, it can be easy to stay in your lane and carry on as things are but this song is the opposite. It's telling you to take the risk and go for it. We've all found ourselves in situations where we'd woken up and thought 'I need to get out of here' and that's what this song represents – no risk, no reward.”

    “Blood Run Warm”
“I think everyone expects when we draft the song, for it to be just a loud racket or super high. We love like, high energy stuff, because that's what we like at the shows and stuff. And we were like, damn, maybe we do need to give, like, people that, like, two minutes just to recharge. Have a little think. And just like, show another side, like, bit more of like, maybe, if it's even like songwriting, bit more of like, any happy we have, like, the My Chemical Romance ballad type track. That's the vibe. Everyone sort of seems to think it is.”
