Diveboy Releases New Song “Solar Sister”

Irish indie-rock band Diveboy, consisting of Tony O'Donovan (vocals/guitar), Peter Piggott (lead guitar) and Cian Doherty (drums), released a new song “Solar Sister” on November 28, 2025.
The song follows “Glory Days” and “Suntrap”. Three songs will appear on their upcoming third studio album.
The track bridges the past and the present with warm memories and the comfort of connecting with old friends, exploring relationships and life changes between adolescence and adulthood.
It was written by Cian Doherty, Peter Piggott, and Tony O'Donovan. Produced by Ruadhri Cushnan.
The band lead singer Tony O'Donovan said of the song, “The initial idea for 'Solar Sister' fell out very quickly one evening, sat with an acoustic guitar. I wanted to write a song that made you close your eyes and put your arm around your friend at a gig, reminiscent of something from the 90s like The Verve or Oasis. On reflection, it’s probably about being there for someone in a difficult moment even though you’re not sure what to do or say, it’s just about being there. All these songs are set in a world where friends have slightly drifted apart from one another naturally over time. I suppose it’s another song about the importance of friendship and staying in touch”- The new album is their first release as Diveboy. The band has released two albums “Sucker for Stars” and “Crazy Dreams & Cruel Realities” as The Burma.
They recorded the album with producer Ruadhri Cushnan.
The band said of the album, “We've just finished recording our third studio album. As we move into an exciting new period for the band, we've decided to change our name. This is something we've considered for a while and now feels like the perfect time. When we sat down to write, we asked ourselves where we imagined playing. The answer was bigger rooms, arenas and stadiums! We wanted to create a sound that would fill the 3Arena or Wembley Stadium. Then Ruadhrí Cushnan brought a fresh approach and perspective to the way we recorded our songs and he was a joy to work with.” -
