  • Stella Donnelly Drops New Music Video for “Standing Ovation”

  • Australian indie rock singer-songwriter Stella Donnelly dropped a new music video for “Standing Ovation” directed by Jack Gaby on November 26, 2025.

The song is featured on her third studio album “Love and Fortune”, which was released earlier this month via Dot Dash Recordings.
Also, the track was released as a double A-side single with “Baths” back in August.
It was written and produced by Stella Donnelly.

Stella Donnelly said of the video, “Jack Gaby and I had so much fun shooting this video clip, he went crazy with the special effects which made me lose my mind laughing so we decided to keep it all in there. Special mention to Yazz Bhandari and Marcel Tussie for playing hours of squash while we got the shots right.“
  • The album comprises 11 tracks, produced by Julia Wallace and Stella Donnelly.
It is her first album in three years since the 2022 album “Flood”. Also, it is the first release under new new label Dot Dash Recordings.
The album is a deeply personal and anchored body of work that traces the journey back to herself after a period of profound change.

Stella Donnelly said of the album, “These songs wouldn't leave me alone. Like seagulls, they screamed at me when I rode to work, they pecked at me while I wrote essays, and they stole my chips the second I thought I was happier without music.”

  • She explained some tracks for the album.

    “Feel It Change”
“I wrote this song on a baritone guitar in the shed of my sharehouse, plugged into all of my housemate's overdrive pedals. I think the neighbours started getting shitty after a while because I stewed on the same chords for ages. It's about the rumination of slowly peeling off the band-aid of a relationship that was doomed to fall apart. Trying to capture that phase of a break up where all you do is bristle and fizz in resentment and finger pointing.”

    “Baths”
“I came up with this melody while I was swimming laps at the Brunswick Baths, the pool filter was making a humming sound on one note which allowed me to sing a melody over the top. It then continued when I got home and had a shower with the bathroom fan on. Both activities made it difficult to write any lyrics down. I finally sat with a keyboard and held a note and it all just came together. A little timeline of my life so far.”
