How I Became A Wave Releases New Song “05:00”

Irish singer-songwriter Pat Carey's solo project How I Became A Wave released a new song “05:00” (pronounced “five A.M.”) on November 25, 2025.
The song the third single from his upcoming self-titled debut album, which is expected to be released in 2026, following “Cycles” and “Fading Out”.
The song was inspired by the Eavan Boland poetry collection “Night Feed”.
The track explores more minimal textures, featuring Rory McCarthy on piano, Kealan Kenny on pedal steel guitar, and Laura McFadden on cello.
It was written and produced by Pat Carey, with production by Pat Carey.
Pat Carey said of the song, “This song was originally inspired by Eavan Boland's poetry collection 'Night Feed'. I've always been interested in exploring how small, seemingly meaningless moments, can be interpreted as being a kind of portal to something greater, something universal. The mundane can be transformed into the timeless when the moment is given the respect that it demands. That time of the night / morning lends itself to being a liminal space, a period of magic - a kind of thinning of the veil - where beauty can dwell in the most ordinary of spaces.”- He added, “Very proud of this piece - it's one of the most deliberately gentle songs I've done. In the hour just before morning, time can play tricks on you. Minutes stretch out forever and the weight of an ordinary moment grows beyond itself, taking on a far greater significance. It's not a Christmas song, but it has always felt like it belongs in the middle of Winter.”
