MARIS Releases New Christmas Song “Christmas Now”
Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter MARIS released a new Christmas song “Christmas Now” on November 21, 2025.
It is her first ever Christmas song, but is bittersweet holiday track.
The song is accompanied by an animated lyric video.
It was written by Jeremy Hatcher, Julian Lewis Carpenter, and Maris Kathleen Ward. Produced by MARIS and Jeremy Hatcher.
MARIS said of the song, “'Christmas Now' is a vulnerable song for me to release, but an important one. As I've grown up, the holidays have changed, and I haven't felt that same Christmas spirit since childhood. I wanted to share a song that could be a cathartic soundtrack for those of us who spend the holidays on the verge of tears, fighting to feel that spirit, but noticing all of the ways it doesn't exist anymore. My last Christmas was heartbreaking, and writing this song gave me a place to put those feelings. I hope it gives others a chance to feel seen and understood.”- She added, “I’m nervous releasing this because it’s so vulnerable, but i think it’s important to be honest about how hard the holidays can get as we get older and our families and lives change. I made this song with Jeremy Hatcher and Julian Lewis Carpenter and I’m so grateful there’s a place for me to put these feelings because they can get so heavy. Especially when we’re bombarded with holiday glee and everyone’s highlight reels, I want you to know that if you’re feeling lonely or lost or nostalgic this season, you’re not alone. I also had the immense privilege of having a little cartoon me created to tell the visualizer story by my incredible roommate Keaton Hanna!!”
