  • Foy Vance Releases New Song “I Think I Preferred The Question”

  • Irish singer-songwriter Foy Vance released a new song “I Think I Preferred The Question” on November 19, 2025.

The song is the third single under his new label Rounder Records, following “Call Me Anytime” and “A.I.”.
The track captures his trademark mix of honesty and insight in an intimate reflection on what it means to be human.
It was written by Foy Vance and produced by Ethan Johns. The accompanying animated music visualizer was animated by John Howe.

Foy Vance said of the song, “I started writing this song when making 'Joy of Nothing.' It hovered around another couple of records but finally found a home. I used to rush to find the answers, and this song reminded me to savour the question.”
  • He continued, “Everyone says the journey is more important than the destination, and that's a kind of that's a very short hand for a very deep and nuanced reality. You're trying to get somewhere, right? You're trying to get to the destination, so it's not that the destination isn't important. It's that the failures along the way and the successes along the way and trying to treat them equally and keep going. Staying true to the path to get to the destination. Without the destination, you wouldn't have the journey they're as important as each other. But at the same time, the answer's rarely as impressive as the question. You know, like trying to get there like the the journey to the answer it's the bit that's where all the interest is. Then you then you've got the answer. And then, time for a new question.”
