  • Chloe Slater Releases New Song “War Crimes”

  • Manchester-based singer-songwriter Chloe Slater released a new song “War Crimes” on November 4, 2025.

The song received its first play during BBC Radio 1's Future Artists with Sian Eleri.
She wrote the song in response to the ongoing genocide happening in Palestine and the UK government's response thus far.
It was written by Chloe Slater, Iain Berryman, Jack Shuter, and Joe Keogh. Produced by Ash Workman and Shute.
The single cover artwork is used by Palestinian artist Ahmed Al Da'alsa, whose work documents life in Gaza.
She will release limited edition merchandise with his artwork, with profits supporting his relocation efforts.

Chloe Slater said of the song, “'War Crimes' is a really important song to me. It feels like the first real protest song that I've ever written and an evolution of the musical style developed throughout my first two EPs. Lyrically, it's an ode to all those who feel betrayed and disillusioned by the UK Labour government, whose ideals have become increasingly right-wing since Keir Starmer's election.”
  • She continued, “I wrote the song after watching the genocide of Palestinians being broadcast to the world, and feeling a deep sense of helplessness as our leaders continued to dismiss the problem and enable the oppressors. Playing it live and watching the audience get emotional with me has been really powerful. I can only hope it keeps sparking conversations and encouraging people to think critically about the world we live in.”

  • She added, “Ahmed has lived in Gaza his whole life, and his art and photographs document his daily struggle for survival under the occupation and Israel's genocide. It is so important right now to be championing the work of Palestinian artists, and to let their stories be heard through their own words and art. I am so grateful to Ahmed for letting me use one of his pieces for the 'War Crimes' cover art and so thankful to be able to give more of a platform to his work, however small mine might be. In order to help raise more funds for Ahmed and his family, we will be selling T shirts and totes with his artwork and donating all profits to his gofundme, in the hopes that we can help him and his family raise more money towards relocating to Egypt.”
