  • Lewis Capaldi Releases New Song “The Day That I Die” from New EP “Survive”

  • Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi released a new EP “Survive” along with a new song “The Day That I Die” on November 14, 2025.

“The Day That I Die” is the last track of the EP.
The EP comprises 4 tracks, including pre-release three songs “Almost”, “Survive”, and “Something in the Heavens”. Produced by Andrew Wells, Connor McDonough, Edd Holloway, Riley McDonough, RØMANS and Todd Clark.
“The Day That I Die” was written by Amy Allen, John Ryan, Tobias Jesso Jr., and Lewis Capaldi. Produced by Edd Holloway.

Lewis Capaldi said of the song, “This is a tune I wrote about the lowest I've felt in my life and truth be told it feels a bit weird putting it out there for people to hear but I'm honestly the proudest I've ever been about a song with this one. It's been an absolute pleasure being back releasing music and playing shows the last six months and I'm honestly so pleased to say I feel so far removed from the place I was when I wrote this song. Looking forward to much more next year.”
  • Lewis Capaldi said of the EP, “I think I tried to balance it more on this EP than I will on future projects. And this EP, I definitely felt like I want to come back. I want to try and sort of explore maybe different avenues in terms of, like the next song that I play on Live Lounge, 'The Day That I Die', so much more personal song about my mental health and stuff. And I want to try and explore different avenues. My song 'Something In The Heavens', I'm singing falsetto. I've never done that before, but I definitely wanted to kind of keep the familiarity of what had gone before in the last records and stuff. But I think moving forward, I'm definitely, I am going to consider what is expected of me a great deal less, or what people expect to hear a great deal less. I mean, I think I'll probably start working on it in January, and then, hopefully I'd like to have out by end of summer or something. So we'll see what happens.”
  • Also, Lewis Capaldi performed the song on BBC Children in Need 2025 on November 14, 2025.
BBC Children in Need is the BBC's UK charity dedicated to supporting disadvantaged children and young people across the country.
This year, the annual fundraising show is hosted by Paddy McGuinness, Mel Giedroyc, Lenny Rush, Rochelle Humes, Vernon Kay, and Big Zuu, and aired on BBC One.
In addition to Lewis Capaldi, Ella Eyre, McFly's Tom Fletcher and his son Buzz, and Eurovision contestants Remember Monday also appeared.
The total announced at the end of the three-hour show was £45,507,536.

Lewis Capaldi explains track-by-track for the EP.

    “Survive”
“The last two years haven't been the best for me. It's been difficult at times. I wanted to write a song that was about overcoming that stuff and getting over the other side of it. It has been my goal to get back [on stage], and 'Survive' is a song about that.”

    “Something In The Heavens”
“This is a song called 'something in the heavens'. Favourite tune yet, hope you love it.”

    “Almost”
“Just a song that I was sort of that sort of feeling of getting, trying to get over someone, and sort of kidding yourself on that you're sort of that you're getting to that place, and you're kidding yourself on that things of that you're getting better. And I found that a lot with my when I was off for a bit as well, not just in terms of my release, my last relationship, but in terms of, like, there were a lot of times when I was convincing myself I was getting better, in lots of ways, whether that was mentally or thinking, and actually I was sort of telling myself a story in my head to make myself feel better. So I think that's kind of what almost talks about. I wrote it with my piano player, Aiden Halliday, a guy called Todd Clark, who's out in Nashville, and Ines Dunn, who's an incredible songwriter. And it was just a really fun couple of days. And it was like a good buzz.”
