Hilary Duff Returns With New Song “Mature”
American actress and singer-songwriter Hilary Duff returned with a new song “Mature” on November 6, 2025.
The song is her first solo music in a decade since the 2015 album “Breathe In. Breathe Out.”.
Also, it is the first release under her new label Atlantic Records.
On the track, she is self talking to her younger self about an experience that she had and just reflecting on it.
She co-wrote the song with her husband Matthew Koma, alongside Madison Love and Brian Phillips.
The accompanying music video was directed by Lauren Dunn.
Hilary Duff said of the song, “'Mature' speaks to my mature self calling my not so mature self on the phone many years ago, and she’s letting her know we landed softly. This was a brief time with a lover that left me with so many questions... It felt like a good place to start.”- Hilary Duff told Vogue about the song, “‘Mature’ is a conversation with my younger self about being happy with where I landed. Part of it was an idea that Matt originated, and part of it came from thinking about that idea of not recognizing younger versions of yourself when you’re now deep into your 30s.”
On the music video, Butterflies represent new beginnings for her. She said, “Butterflies hold a lot of strings to my past, and I wanted a nod to that first record being part of my ‘metamorphosis’ to this stage of my career. I wanted to include that butterfly at the end of the video just as a little nugget because of the significance they’ve always held for me. Before my grandmother passed away, she told me that any time I see a butterfly, that would be her saying hello.” - source : Apple Music
