  • Holly Humberstone Premieres New Song “Die Happy” on BBC Radio 1

  • British singer-songwriter Holly Humberstone is back. She premiered a new song “Die Happy” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.

The song is her first music since the EP “Work in Progress”, which was released last March.
She is currently working on her upcoming sophomore album. The song will appear on it.
The track was written by Holly Ffion Humberstone, Nate Campany, and Rob Milton, who also produced it.
The accompanying a music visualiser was directed by Silken Weinberg.

Holly Humberstone said of the song, “I wrote 'Die Happy' thinking about a fairytale at night, somewhere between driving fast with the windows down and wandering through a crumbling old house. I took inspiration from The Bloody Chamber and Dracula and I wanted to show the feeling of throwing yourself into love fully and recklessly. There is danger in love.”

She continued, “To be back releasing music again feels very surreal. I've had a lot of down time recently to do some growing up and to figure out who I am now & how I want to tell the stories of this next chapter. I've never been happier / connected more with anything I've ever made honestly. I love icons Rob Milton & Nate Campany for writing this first song with me.”
  • Holly Humberstone told Jack Saunders about the song, “I think that I kind of got off tour, and I had a lot of time to kind of just think about what I wanted to write more, and think about how I wanted to tell the stories. And reconnect with myself a little bit after many, many, long years of touring, which were amazing. But I kind of needed the opportunity to be a real human being again and grow up a little bit. And I feel like it's a thing that I've done where I've released a bit more of a deep cut first. It's a song that I'm really proud of the song writing on, and it feels fitting for this time of year, and I feel like it opens the chapter to the new world in a really cool way.”

  • She continued, “I was just in the studio with my friend Rob, who I write a lot of stuff with, and a guy called Nate Campany, who's amazing. And we were like, let's just write like a gothic love song. And I guess it explores kind of love being a really all consuming, all encompassing, amazing feeling, but it can also be really painful as well. At its core, I feel like you can't have kind of one without the other.”
