Fields of Jake Releases New Song “If Only It Was up to Me”
Nashville-based singer-songwriter Jake Fields, aka Fields of Jake released a new song “If Only It Was up to Me” on October 24, 2025.
The song is the third single off of his upcoming debut album, which is set to be released in winter 2025.
On the album, Jake Fields carves a unique space for himself as he examines the magical moments of life unfolding one song at a time.
“If Only It Was up to Me” is a dynamic pop ballad about a failed relationship. The track features Steve Fekete on guitar, Jon Button on bass and Marc Slutsky on drums.
The song creates a delectable, thoughtful soundscape, with Jon Button's tender bassline blending perfectly with David Levita and Steve Fekete's electric, sweeping guitar hums.
Jake Fields co-wrote the song with producer Jim McGorman.- Jake Fields said of the song, “Like a lot of people around 2021, I was a little disconnected from music and luckily reconnected with Jim McGorman and we wrote 'If Only It Was Up To Me'”
He added, “The song is a fantasy when you're on the wrong side of the arc of a relationship: wanting the chance to go back and erase the damage done, but it's entirely out of your control.” -
