The Twilight Sad Returns With New Song “WAITING FOR THE PHONE CALL” featuring Robert Smith
Scottish post-punk band The Twilight Sad, consisting of James Alexander Graham (vocals) and Andy MacFarlane (guitar), returned with a new song “WAITING FOR THE PHONE CALL” on October 28, 2025 via Rock Action Records.
The song is their first music in six years since the 2019 album “IT WON/T BE LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME”.
On the track, the band collaborated with British rock band The Cure's Robert Smith, who played the guitar.
In the past, Robert Smith covered The Twilight Sad's “There's A Girl In The Corner”. Also, The Twilight Sad has supported The Cure's world tours.
In additionally of Robert Smith, the track features the band tour members Alex Mackay on bass and David Jeans on drums.
It was written by Andy Macfarlane and James Alexander Graham. Produced by Andy Macfarlane and Andy Savours.- The band frontman James Alexander Graham said of the song, “'Waiting for the Phone Call' is about grief, love, and mental illness. These things took over my life and I became ill. I lost the person most important to me in one of the cruellest ways. I've always used writing as a method of processing and coping with my emotions. My emotions became a problem and I couldn't control them, writing music with Andy... especially the past seven years had been both the escape and the opportunity to process and try and make sense of life. We've all been waiting on a phone call that can change our lives at some point. This unfortunately focuses on a phone call that you never want to have.”

The band embarks on a headline UK & EU tour in April and May 2026. The tour kicks off at Legend 54 in Milano, Italy on April 12, 2026 and will conclude at Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow, UK on May 6, 2026.
