Wet Leg Performs “mangetout” & Cover of Empire Of The Sun's “Walking On A Dream” on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge
British indie rock band Wet Leg, consisting of Rhian Teasdale (vocals/rhythm guitar), Hester Chambers (lead guitar), Henry Holmes (drums), Josh Mobaraki (rhythm guitar), Ellis Durand (bass), appeared on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge to perform “mangetout” and a cover of Australian electronic music duo Empire Of The Sun's “Walking On A Dream”.
This marks their second appearance as a musical guest on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge since 2022.
“mangetout” was featured on their sophomore album “moisturizer”, which was released back in July.
The self-directed music video for the song was released on October 14, 2025. The band said of the video, “In amidst of tour we decided to make a music video for mangetout. We started shooting the video at home on the Isle of Wight and then collected more shots on the road in between sound checks and stage times. Sorry if we were ever late getting on stage these past few weeks... it’s probably due to the making of this video.”- “Walking On A Dream” was released by Empire Of The Sun as the lead single from their debut album of the same name in 2008.
The song was in a Honda Civic commercial in the U.S. in 2016, more than seven years after its original release.
The single has been certified Platinum Disc in both the US and the UK.
Wet Leg told BBC Radio 1 why they chose the song, “After trying out loads of different options, one felt doable, and it had over a million, billion, trillion streams. That is the quota, I think.” - source : BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge
