  • Meredith Adelaide Releases New Song “What Do I Know”

  • American singer-songwriter Meredith Adelaide released a new song “What Do I Know” on October 24, 2025.

The song is the third and final pre-release single from her upcoming debut album “To Believe I'm The Sun”, following “One Foot Out” and “Guard Dog”. The album is expected to be released in 2025.
The track is an indie folk anthem that tugs at the heartstrings, demonstrating a tossup between being wise beyond your years and holding yourself accountable to your past flaws.
It was written by Meredith Adelaide and produced by Khushi.

Meredith Adelaide said of the song, “For this song I actually tried putting myself down, like calling myself names, as many as I could. I wanted to try to hurt my own feelings with my own interpretation of who I think I am. It immediately failed lol. The path that appeared for me trying to do that was one of a deeper level of understanding of who I ACTUALLY, truly have experienced myself to be. I have had all of these experiences and identities (and of course an infinite number more) and I think one of my troubles in life has been thinking it’s a worry that I haven’t been able to grab onto any of them and get them to stick. It’s like I keep changing, continually, and I’ve been so uncomfortable with that.”

She continued, “So in line with a lot of philosophies and defining the human experience and trying to figure out what is actually going on as is my obsession, I wanted to share, in my last song before I leave you on the album, that I know jack shit (pg: diddly-squat). Literally, what do I know about anything? I’m finding all these things out about myself but it doesn’t quite mean something. I’m not better or cooler or further progressed or different from people, at our core. Actually I’m trying to show people how similar we all are, by being as open and honest about my human experience as I can. And so what do I show then, if not everything? How can I help people process if I don’t share my own?”
  • She added, “As I have grown (changed, expanded, become more self accountable), I have had an incredibly serendipitous synchronicity that aligns with the ideas laid out in a healing modality called Internal Family Systems (IFS). In this model, we see there are “parts” of us that make us behave in ways that say our “best” or “most authentic” self wouldn’t choose to. And that very authentic self is the true Self we each have, and it is good, and pure, and wants the best for all. But, when we have conflicts and especially bad experiences, we develop alternate versions of ourselves that are really just there trying to protect us, using a very many different tactics. But some of them are absolutely destructive, the poor things. And then some of them are really cool and very inspiring.”

She said, “The point is to be able to see them, meet with them, understand them, and get them to a place where they feel like you, your Self, can handle everything. Any problem that comes up. The goal is to lead them to a place where they can let go of the need to swoop in to fix things, and instead find a healthy identity and intention they can put their energy into. We aren’t trying to eliminate them. We’re trying to include them in our family with no bad blood. Our internal family system.”
