Mumford & Sons Teams Up with Hozier for New Song “Rubber Band Man”

British folk rock band Mumford & Sons, consisting of Marcus Mumford (lead vocals/guitar), Ted Dwane (vocals/bass) and Ben Lovett (vocals/keyboards), teamed up with Irish singer-songwriter Hozier to release a new song “Rubber Band Man” on October 24, 2025.
This marks the first studio collaboration between Mumford & Sons and Hozier. But they performed a cover of The Beatles' “A Little Help From My Friends” together at the Longitude Festival in 2017 and “Awake My Soul” at Austin City Limits in 2023.
For Mumford & Sons, the song is their first music since the fifth studio album “RUSHMERE”, which was released back in March.
As the single, the song follows a cover of Canadian singer-songwriter Neil Young's “Harvest”.
Meanwhile, for Hozier, the song is the third collaborative song of 2025, following “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” with Barbra Streisand and “Like Real People Do” with NATURE.
The track was written and produced by American rock band The National's Aaron Dessner.
They recorded the song at Long Pond Studios in New York.- The band lead singer Marcus Mumford told BBC Radio 1 about the song, “We were in the middle of mixing 'Rushmere', but we just didn't feel like we were done writing. And sometimes you get into a pattern where you have a record that's finished. And then you sort of take a deep breath out, and you go on tour of two years, and you don't really think about writing songs. And we wanted to do that differently this time. Partly because we just missed it so much, missed being together, missed having an excuse to go on the road. And honestly felt like there was something still happening with songwriting, even when we were done with 'Rushmere'. So while we were in New York mixing 'Rushmere' with Tom Elmhirst. We were also in Electric Lady, starting to write more songs. And Aaron Dessner was next door and came in. And we hadn't seen each other for a few years, even though he'd helped us with the demos for our third record. He came through, and we started pinging ideas around, and then one thing led to another, and 'Rubber Band Man' came out.”
