Talking Violet Releases New Song “Destroy”

Canadian alt-rock band Talking Violet, consisting of Jillian Goyeau (vocals/guitar), Jayden Turnbull (guitar/vocals), Jeremie Brousseau (drums) and Dylan Iannicello (bass), released a new song “Destroy” on October 16, 2025.
The song is the second single since the 2024 album “Everything At Once”, following “In Your Mind” released back in August.
The track continues the emotional thread of their recent album, drawing from the grief of interpersonal change.
It was written by Dylan Iannicello, Jayden Turnbull, Jeremie Brousseau, and Jillian Goyeau. Produced by Justin Meli.
The accompanying music video was directed by Gavin Michael Booth.
The band lead singer Jillian Goyeau said of the song, “Destroy is about closing a chapter in my life where I experienced a lot of change which I talked a lot about throughout our Everything At Once record. Before moving on I kinda needed to say goodbye, so that’s what Destroy does. It’s me finally accepting that people can both love you and hurt you at the same time and vice versa. You can love someone even when they aren’t meant to be in your life anymore.”- She continued, “These tracks draw on a lot of grief of change, most specifically, the grief of relationship changes in our lives. I was going through changes that I now see as necessary but were incredibly painful at the time. It made me realize how much I had depended on my relationships with others for my identity. I had to slowly relearn who I was-and spent the next few years healing my people-pleasing baseline. It’s still something I work on every day.”

The band shared on social media, “This song was both incredibly hard and easy to write at the same time. For myself (Jill) I felt like I had to close a certain chapter in my life to really move on, a chapter was very present on our record “Everything At Once”. The journey of growing and healing is a weird one because a part of you feels so happy to be doing better, and another has a hard time letting that era go. I think it can come from feeling protective over the person it made you in the long run (Or maybe it’s just the part of grief that wants change and loss to feel fresh and recent - because why else would it hurt that much?)”
They added, “'Destroy' concludes a long journey of trying to understand how change is an inherent part of life. A journey about how love and grief are two sides of the same coin. A reminder that sometimes the people that you think will be in your life forever won’t be, and in the end that is okay.” - source : Apple Music
