  • Tame Impala Releases New Album “Deadbeat”

  • Australian singer-songwriter Kevin Parker's psychedelic music project Tame Impala released his fifth studio album “Deadbeat” on October 17, 2025.

This marks his first album in five years since the 2020 album “The Slow Rush”. Also, it is the first release under his new label Columbia Records.
The album comprises 12 tracks, produced by Kevin Parker. All tracks are written by Kevin Parker; “Dracula”, “Oblivion”, and “Afterthought” are co-written with Sarah Aarons.
He was worked on the album over the last few years between his hometown of Fremantle and his studio, Wave House in Injidup, Western Australia in the first half of 2025.

Kevin Parker said, “Another album that almost killed me. 2 years of sweat and tears and self-neglect but I wouldn't have it any other way. I wouldn't give you anything that didn't take my all to make. Way too many thank yous to fit in here but you know who you are. Hope you guys enjoy it.”
  • He said of the album, “I mean, I'm always into exploring new things. That's kind of the thing that that's the kind of thing that keeps me going. It is just like exploring parts that I haven't explored before, that I love. One of the things with this album that wanted to do was just use, like, a really, like, small amount of sounds. And not just use the whole not use the whole studio. I just wanted to make this really, like condensed sound. So even though there's like techno and there's sort of like psych rock, or whatever you want to call it. To me, they kind of they fit together. I can't really explain why, but that's kind of how I feel.”
  • Kevin Parker told Apple Music about the album, “That's always something that I get a kick out of: just shaking up expectations. The album officially started in Montecito. My thing is I get an Airbnb somewhere on the coast—I just find places literally as close to the water as you can get. Staring at the ocean for me just helps me get lost, and there's a tranquility that comes along with it. I've always had a sick satisfaction from being hard on myself in my lyrics. For me, it's freeing to make beautiful music and then put a sticker on it that says, 'That piece of shit!' It flips around all those feelings that have followed me around my whole life and gives them purpose.”

Kevin Parker explained some tracks for the album.

    “My Old Ways”
“Powerless as I descend, back into my old ways again.”

    “Dracula”
“It's kind of the oldest song from the album process. It's kind of one of the ones I started first. So, like, that's kind of that's like an example of one of those, the ones that started, that's this really raw, minimal way. And then just sort of like slowly expanded into pop. I kind of just give the song what it wants, like that one just wanted that big, sort of it wanted to be like a Max Martin song.”

    “Loser”
“With 'Loser', I guess it's like, we've all been that guy at least once. I feel like, that's all I have to say. So I think so it's kind of like, saying the name of the song. It sounds so like putting, but it's like the feeling of being. It's a song about feeling like a loser. It's not a song about being a loser, if that makes sense.
I mean for me, lyrics, I just sort of let lyrics sort of come out the way they want to come out. But I kind of just, like, I think I get a bit of a kick out of writing lyrics that are kind of just a bit tragic like that. I mean, that is kind of a feeling too, of feeling like a loser. It's like, you feel like a bit of a tragic, romantic.
We've hung out a couple of times. We just sort of bumped into each other, sort of when our paths have crossed throughout the world. But it all just came together. It came together so quickly. I can't really, we're all so surprised how quickly this video came together. It was like two weeks ago, we were thinking about it. And we're all just really hyped, like it was so fun to be on set with Joe (Keery).”

    “End Of Summer”
“A new era begins. This is the first thing I want you guys to hear. I give you End Of Summer. As is tradition, go and find your favourite sound system. The video was shot in a place even dustier than my drum sounds. Hope you like it. Off we goooooo.”
