piri & tommy Releases New Song “miss provocative”

British dance-pop duo piri & tommy, consisting of Sophie McBurnie (vocals) and Thomas Villiers (guitar), released a new song “miss provocative” on October 17, 2025.
The song received its first play during BBC Radio 1's Future Pop with Jodie Bryant.
The track is the second single off of their upcoming EP “magic!”, which is set to be released on November 7, 2025.
As with the previous song “someone”, it was written and produced by Sophie McBurnie and Thomas Villiers.
The accompanying music visualiser was directed by plastic fruits studios and piri & tommy.
The band lead singer Sophie McBurnie said of the song, “This song is a political statement disguised as a pop banger. It's about the triumph of the female pop-culture provocateur against the patriarchy trying to hold her down, it's about brave women breaking the boundaries and being confident to express themselves when the whole world is telling them to 'cover up', 'have some respect', it's about women who stick to their guns and take the heat simply just to be who they wanna be!! It's about gay women, trans women, socialist women, sex workers, pole dancers, pop stars. Any woman who has had to fight for her right to exist and for her own femininity.”- She continued, “We've made so much progress with freedom of self expression across the last century, but somebody had to break the boundaries first!!!!! I want to appreciate these pioneering women across history who took the heat to make self-expression safer for us all. That's miss provocative.”
She told Jodie Bryant of BBC Radio 1 about the song, “This song is about the triumph of the female pop-culture provocateur against the patriarchy trying to hold her down. We as a society have made incredible progress with freedom of self-expression across the last century, but somebody had to break the boundaries first. I want to appreciate these pioneering women across history who took the heat to make self-expression safer for us all.” -
The new EP comprises 6 tracks, produced by Sophie McBurnie and Thomas Villiers. It is the first release under their new label Believe.
The duo said of the EP, “Yes, we've been making dance music, but we've really just been making songs! We've always made whatever music we love, and this project finally gave us the space to full-send the funk. Making music together is magic, getting to live as artists is magic, and the fact that we even met (on Tinder!) is the most magical thing of all.”
