Melanie C Announces New Album “Sweat”, Shares Title Track
British singer-songwriter and former Spice Girls, Melanie C has announced her upcoming ninth studio album “Sweat” will be released on May 1, 2026 via Virgin Music Group.
This marks her first album in six years since the 2020 self-titled album.
The album comprises 11 tracks, which she recorded between Stockholm and Los Angeles. It's a fusion of her pop legacy and her more recent evolution as a DJ.
From the album, she released the title track “Sweat” on October 17, 2025.
The track samples Diana Ross's 1982 single “Work That Body”. The accompanying music video was directed by Graham Cruz.
It was was written by Alexander Liu, Diana Ross, Dominc Joshua, Melanie Chishom, Paul Jabara, Raymond L Chew, Sean McDonagh, and Theo Hutchcraft. Produced the by Kingdoms.
Melanie C said of the song, “Sports, raving, finding joy - these elements are such a huge part of my personality. What works in the club, works in the gym - there’s a real crossover.”- She said of the album, “I've done a lot of soul-searching. Now I just want to have some fun and get people dancing again. “When we were young every weekend we'd go out dancing all night long. In a room of friendly strangers we found the place where we belong.”
She continued, There are so many horrific things going on in the world, when you make pop and dance music, it can seem almost churlish. But music is what gets me through tough moments. I'm really happy I am bringing out a joyful record at a very dark time.” -
She added, “I'm thrilled to be releasing my new music with Virgin Music Group. It feels like a homecoming after the successes we shared working together with Spice Girls and my first two solo albums. They are paving the way for more artist-led deals and have an incredibly strong international team. I'm really excited to see what we can achieve together.”
