Only The Poets Releases New Song “Thinking Bout Your Ex”

British alt-pop band Only The Poets, consisting of Tommy Longhurst (vocals), Andy “Roo” Burge (bass), Clem Cherry (guitar) and Marcus Yates (drums), released a new song “Thinking Bout Your Ex” on October 17, 2025.
The song is the sixth single off their upcoming debut album “And I'd Do It Again”, which is set to be released on January 30, 2026.
It was written by Dan Bartlett, Pablo Bowman, Tom Longhurst, and William James Watson. Produced by DanDlion, Clem Cherry, and Marcus YatesHumble the Great.
The band said of the song, “You ever had to battle with jealousy in a relationship? And you feel like there's nothing you can do to change it? Like I'm happy one second and then paranoid the next, and all you want to do is move on. So unbelievably proud of this one. It's about the quiet paranoia that creeps in when things are good. About the overthinking and comparing yourself to someone's past even when you know it's stupid. I wrote it as a form of therapy to tell me it's okay to think about it. Hope you love it.”- The debut album comprises 14 tracks, which the band wrote and recorded over nine months with producers Clem Cherry, DanDlion, Humble the Great, Marcus Yates, Martin Sjølie, Matt Rad, and Phil Cook.
The band said of the album, “The album is about the chances you take, the sacrifices you make, and the moments that shape who you are. It's about holding on to what matters most and owning your story. Every high, every low, every mistake, it's all in here. In these moments we think to ourselves: despite it all, if you could rewind and change any of it, would you? No. And I'd Do It Again.” -
The band told HATC about the album, “I went through a breakup when writing the album, and I was reflecting. That led me to dig deeper, and the album became a soundtrack to nine months of intense self-reflection. The album explores heartbreak, as well as things that happened more recently. We wanted the stories to feel universal because they're about human emotion. We're all the same in the sense we share the same thoughts and feelings. We wanted it to be a bit of fun and not too solemn, but for the undertone of the record to be genre bending, look at self sabotage, but also bring the message of loving yourself more. It doesn't matter if you make mistakes in life, what matters is how you come out the other side.” - source : Apple Music
