AJR Releases New Song “Yes I'm A Mess”
Last Month, American alt-pop trio AJR, consisting of Adam Met (bass), Jack Met (vocals) and Ryan Met (keyboards), announced their upcoming fifth studio album “The Maybe Man” would be released on November 3, 2023
Last November, the band teased the album called “TMM” after its initials.
The band said of the album, “We put absolutely everything we had into this album, visuals, and tour. Down to every little detail. Get ready to immerse yourself in this world.”
From the album the band unveiled a new song “Yes I'm A Mess” on September 29, 2023.
The song is the follow-up to “God Is Really Real”, which is the song about their father Gary Metzger who tragically passed away earlier this year.
The track was written by Adam Met, Ryan Met, and Jack Met. Produced by Ryan Met.
The song is the last promotional single before the album would be released.
Back in July, the band shared about “God Is Really Real” on social media, “Hey guys, thank you so much for the outpouring of love for our Dad. To see so many of you express the love you had for him was unbelievably moving and helped us get through probably the most challenging time of our lives. We wanted to share that we are in the early stages of launching a foundation in Gary's honor which will provide annual scholarships to fans who have cool ideas to make a positive impact in the world around us. It will be a few weeks till everything is ready to go but we wanted to do something to honor our Dad.”
They continued, “We were gonna wait till the album came out, because it felt strange to release a song like this on its own, but after seeing the outpouring of love for our Dad, we decided this was the right time. We wrote this song when this all started, and we want to be as real and true and honest as possible for the people that have been there for us the most. We shot a quick video here in the hospital to go along with it, and it's out on YouTube now. Gonna try to get it out everywhere else soon. This is our song, God is Really Real. Love you guys.”
