Matt Taylor Premieres New Song “April 13th” on BBC Radio 1
- Irish singer-songwriter Matt Taylor premiered a new song “April 13th” on BBC Radio 1's Future Artists with Jack Saunders.
The song will appear on his upcoming second EP of the same name.
It was written by Matt Taylor and Hugh Reilly-Smith. Produced by Matt Taylor, JOMO KRU and Hugh Reilly-Smith.
Matt Taylor explained in a statement, ”I knew where the conversation was ultimately going to go, but I was kind of shocked by how dismissive he was of it all, it was so confusing to me that everything was changing, from why it had all happened in the first place to why he even spent time with me.”
He continued, “What hurt the most was when he told me that the only reason he had been spending so much time with me was because he had nothing better to do. It hurt so much because it's so cowardly. He couldn't even take responsibility for the choices he made. After this conversation, I cut him out entirely and I wrote the track about three weeks later.”
- Matt Taylor shared on social media, “Without getting too soppy, I want to say a massive thank you to Hugh for writing this one with me 💛 It felt like a special one from the very start & is without a doubt the track that felt the best to get off my chest. A lot of the time I'll look back and feel embarrassed over a lyric or feeling in a song, thinking it was too much or not representative of how I felt now, but I love & am so happy with every single part of this track.”
