Kitty Hawk Unveils New All-Electric Flying Car “The Kitty Hawk Flyer”
- Silicon Valley based company Kitty Hawk Corporation has unveiled a new flying car called "The Kitty Hawk Flyer".
Yesterday (April 24), we posted an article about all-electric flyng car "The Lilium Jet", which was developed by Germany company Lilium Aviation. The aircraft is two-seater type like a glider. But The Kitty Hawk Flyer is like the Star Wars speeder bike.
The company has designed their first version specifically to fly over water. You don’t need a pilot’s license and you’ll learn to fly it in minutes. It is legal to operate in the United States in uncongested areas under the Ultralight category of FAA regulations.
Also, Google co-founder Larry Page was personally backing the project.
The official Flyer will be available by the end of the year.
Currently, the company does not release about a price for the aircraft. But the company is enticing eager pilots with a $100 three-year membership that offers priority placement on a waiting list, company-branded gear, and exclusive access to a flight simulator and company events. Members will also get a $2,000 discount off the eventual retail price.
Larry Page told The New York Times;
"We've all had dreams of flying effortlessly. I'm excited that one day very soon I'll be able to climb onto my Kitty Hawk Flyer for a quick and easy personal flight."
