London-based singer-songwriter Ebony Buckle has released a new song “Ghost” following “Susan” released last December.
The song is her most personal release and is the heart-wrenching experience that she, who is Australian, and her English husband Nick endured during their fight to renew her visa after their marriage.
Both artists wrote the song via Skype. “My husband and I wrote Ghost over Skype when we were separated for nearly 2 years by the Home Office. This song was written in a state of limbo and it feels like the world is in limbo now. We hope it will resonate with people going through similar experiences,” Ebony Buckle explained.
She has already shot the music video. “It’s a very raw video and for a while, I felt too embarrassed to put it out,” she said of the video. “We do not talk openly about mental health issues in society, and it made me feel very vulnerable. I have come to believe that having these conversations and allowing yourself to be vulnerable only makes you stronger in the long run. I think it shows a different side of me. We are all made up of light and dark and I think perhaps we need to know that everyone has their own unique dark moments, worth expressing.”
