- British singer-songwriter Charli XCX produced girls band Nasty Cherry, who released a debut song “Win” on March 11, 2019.
The band consists of Gabby Bechtel (vocals), Chloe Chaidez (guitar), Georgia Somary (bass) and Debbie Knox-Hewson (drums).
The band signed to Charli's label Vroom Vroom Recordings.
The song was co-written by Charli XCX and Justin Raisen, Georgia Somary, Gabriella Bechtel, Deborah Knox-Hewson, Chloe Chaidez.
Georgia Somary said of the song with an interview with Noisey, “We wrote that with Charli, and it was one of the first songs we wrote all together. She came over and Chloe was rollerskating around the living room playing this riff on her guitar, saying “I need to win, I need to win” and Charli was furiously writing the lyrics on her phone.”
The band will perform their debut headlining gig at the Moroccan Lounge in Los Angels on March 15th.
- Charli XCX said, "I’ve always wanted to work with a girl band - but not in a pop group type of way - and I love collaborating with women, so I just started talking to some of my friends about it. I’d be like 'Have you ever thought of being in a band? I think you’d be good at it.' And then we just kept talking about it and it made more and more sense. All the girls (Gabbriette, Debbie, Georgia and Chloe) and I were feeling it. They got on and had interesting ideas and it just sort of happened. I feel like together they’re extremely unique. They are funny and bold and have something interesting to say. It feels weird and special."
