Australian singer-songwriter Kate Miller-Heidke has been chosen to represent Australia at this year’s Eurovision Song contest.
She won the annual music competition with a new song “Zero Gravity” at a live event on the Gold Coast on Saturday (February 9th) and will represent Australia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv, Israel in May 2019. The contest will broadcast exclusively on SBS.
Kate Miller-Heidke said, “I’m totally overwhelmed! This has been a peak experience already, and I’m dying with excitement at what’s to come. Thanks to everyone who voted, and to all the other artists who provided such a brilliant, eclectic and stiff competition. I’ve had a ball, and I’m so grateful and thrilled that I get to represent Australia at Eurovision in 2019.”- SBS Commissioning Editor Josh Martin said, “This could seriously be the year that Australia wins Eurovision! Kate’s performance tonight was quite simply breathtaking and the response from the Australian public has been overwhelming.
