Janelle Monáe Performs on Austin City Limits: Full Video
American singer-songwriter and actress Janelle Monáe appeared on Austin City Limits, where she performed eight songs. PBS aired full video on November 17th.
“I come in peace, but I mean business,” the powerhouse proclaims to the Austin audience. Performing with a predominantly female ensemble, including a four-woman dance team.
She played “Dirty Computer”, “Crazy, Classic Life”, “Screwed”, “Django Jane” and “Pynk” from her latest album "Dirty Computer", as well as “Tightrope” and “Come Alive” from her debut album "The ArchAndroid".
In addition, she performed a mash-up of “Purple Rain” and “PrimeTime”.
On “Purple Rain” and “PrimeTime”, she paid the tribute to Prince, who passed away in 2016. Prince had helped her third album (non-credit) before he died. She said, “We love you, Prince.”
“The artistry of Janelle Monáe is stunning,” says ACL executive producer Terry Lickona. “She can do it all. There’s nobody else out there like her. I’ve never seen anybody like her on Austin City Limits – in over three decades, and that says a lot!”- source : PBS
