Former Fifth Harmony Normani teamed up with American singer-songwriter 6LACK. The pair released a new song “Waves” on November 15th. The song received its first play during Zane Lowe's Beats 1 Radio show.
It was written by Normani, Felicia Ferraro, Mary Weitz and 6LACK.
She first performed the song without 6lack at a Tidal X concert in Brooklyn on October 23rd.
Normani said of the song, “He’s such an important artist, and I’ve been following his journey for a while now, and we’re really big fans of each other… He’s an amazing lyricist, and I feel like he took the record to a whole other level.”
The song is her fourth single after hiatus of Fifth Harmony, following "Slow Down" with Calvin Harris.
And the track will appear on her upcoming debut album, which is expected to be released in early 2019. But the project won't feature her Khalid-assisted standout bop "Love Lies."
Normani is set to open the first leg of Ariana Grande’s Sweetener tour, which kicks off at Times Union Center in Albany, New York on March 18, 2019 and will wrap-up at Madison Square Garden in New York City on June 18th.
