Halsey Premieres New Music Video for “Without Me”
- American singer-songwriter Halsey has delivered a new music video for “Without Me”directed by Colin Tilley.
The song received its first play during Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Radio show in earlier this month.
“I think that’s what I’m kind of getting at is that it’s like it’s not protected by some character or some subplot,” she said. “It’s like this is really me talking about my life. It kind of gave me like an existential crisis as an artist a little bit, because I’ve prided myself on being an artist who’s authentic and writes about her life and all that stuff. And then when I made this and I felt just how bad it hurt.”
Colin Tilley created the video, which sees a young couple struggled to build their relationship through drugs, drinking, sex, parties and violence. The video reminds us of Rianna's video "We Found Love".
"It’s just me, it’s like me in a white t-shirt with like normal hair, just like seeing the camera. No character, no cinematography, no gun fight, car explosion, you know stuff like I usually do," she said of the video.
The song's bridge contains an interpolation of the pre-chorus of Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me a River"
It was written by Ashley, Delacey, Louis Bell, Amy Allen and Scott Storch.
She wrote the song for the first time under her real name, Ashley.
