  • Florence + the Machine Covers Tori Amos’ “Cornflake Girl”

  • British alt-rock band Florence + the Machine covered American singer-songwriter Tori Amos' “Cornflake Girl” for Spotify’s latest “Singles” session.


    “Cornflake Girl” was released by Tori Amos in 1994 as the first single from her second studio album "Under the Pink." Singer Merry Clayton joinend in the song as backup vocals.
    The inspiration for "Cornflake Girl" came from about a habit of female genital mutilation in Africa, specifically how a close female family member would betray the victim by performing the procedure.
    The song reached No. 4 on the UK Singles chart.
    Florence + the Machine recorded the song at RAK studios in London.
    Also they perfomrd “Hunger” from their latest studio abum "High as Hope" at the same studio.
    Florence + the Machine will hit the road to promote the album in North America, launching September 22nd in Las Vegas, Nevada and concluding October 20th in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
