Christine and the Queens Premieres New Music Video for “5 Dollars”
French singer-songwriter Héloïse Letissier, aka Christine and the Queens unveiled a new music video for “5 Dollars” directed by Colin Solal Cardo.
The song will appear on her forthcoming sophomore album "Chris", which is due out September 21th. It follows up the previously released singles “Doesn’t Matter” and “Girlfriend” with Dâm-Funk.
The video is influenced from 1980s classic film "American Gigolo" directed by Paul Schrader, starring Richard Gere.
The new album is available to pre-order now here
Héloïse Letissier told Vogue about the song;
“The song is so tender, so disheveled. It’s dealing with some kind of love — the kind you can buy. It’s a literal interpretation. A note for a shag — how surprisingly soothing this can be!. The power ratio runs clear, like water in your hands; it becomes a pure gesture of love, of ultimate consent. The closet is segmented into two racks — suits and bondage. From there, I wouldn’t advise to conclude anything too drastic, since you’re glaring yourself, in an obscene fashion — voyeur. The hustler is also someone who allows you to project onto him or her, before disappearing to leave you alone with your phantasmes.”- v8eulIH7tU0
