Lauv Performs “I Like Me Better” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon
Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Ari Staprans Leff, aka Lauv appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he performed “I Like Me Better”.
The song is included on his debut album "I Met You When I Was 18", which was released on May 31, 2018.
The track was used in an Android Auto app commercial. It was written by Michael Matosic and Lauv.
He wrote the song when he moved to Los Angeles. It’s about when he moved to New York, he was 18 and fell in love for the first time there.
Lauv said of the song;
"This was probably the fastest song I’ve ever written so far. I didn’t have any lyrics written down, no concept, no title, nothing. I was just playing chords. And the chorus just started coming to me, and I got this ‘90s drum break and started chopping that up and fucking with that. And then I got the whole melody. And then I took out my iPhone—I was like, “I don’t want to forget this.” I voicemail mode it, and I thought I’d replace it later with another sound. Then I ended up actually using that sound. And it all just happened super quick. I feel like, in a way, it wrote itself."- source : Rolling Stone
