- The Joy Formidable Premieres New Music Video for “The Wrong Side”
- Back in June, Welsh rock trio The Joy Formidable announced that their fourth studio album "AAARTH" would be released on September 28, 2018.
Two singles "Dance of the Lotus" and "The Wrong Side" preceded the album.
On July 30th, the band unveiled a new music video for “The Wrong Side” created by Triim. The video was premiered exclusively on Billboard.
The clip features psychedelic images through time and space.
The band said of the video;
"This is our second collab with [the video company] TRLLM. We love their imagination and like all our favorite artists; they’re not afraid to make it weird. They had the background to the song, how lyrically it’s pieced like a collage from memories and snippets of time and they used that, along with the album artwork to create this experimental, multi-colored dream sequence that we think captures this track beautifully."
- The album comprises of 11-track. It is their first LP in two years. Lead vocalist Ritzy Bryan stated about the album in a statement;
“"AAARTH" is a colouful, mystical collage of music. Those multi-coloured sunsets & the primeval elements of nature in the Southwest – it’s emboldened our imaginations in the songwriting and the production. I love stories and seeing symbolism and meaning change with different cultures and interpretations. I see it in my lyrics, a lot of the imagery plays on being ambivalent because I’m often expressing a lot of things at once. That’s true of the title; it falls somewhere between a scream, an exaltation, a play on words, and then this motif of the bear ('arth' in Welsh) that spiritually represents strength, wisdom & healing.”
- In addition to all the standard formats, the album is available in a limited edition collector’s box that includes the record pressed on red vinyl, a bonus 7-inch Cicada Picture disc with the exclusive track “Land On Your BacK”, a card signed by The Joy Formidable, a 24-page bound booklet with lyrics and artwork, an enamel pin.
