Johnny Marr Premieres New Music Video for “Walk Into The Sea”
- Legendary Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr releases his third solo studio album "Call the Comet" on June 15.
Last month, he dropped “Hi Hello” with an accompanying music video from the album.
The follow-up to “Hi Hello”, he unveiled a new song “Walk Into The Sea” as the third single on June 1st.
On the same day, the music video was premiered on YouTube, directed by Mat Bancroft and Johnny Marr.
In the video, the band plays on a set that’s flooded in blue and white light which gives the impression that they’re underwater.
The new album was recorded with his band at Marr’s own Crazy Face Studios in Manchester. The album is inspired by Brexit and Trumpism.
He said of the album, “Call The Comet is my own magic realism. It’s set in the not-too-distant future and is mostly concerned with the idea of an alternative society. The characters in the songs are searching for a new idealism, although there are some personal songs in there too. It’s something that people like me can relate to.”
Johnny Marr will embark on a North American tour "Call The Comet Tour 2018" this fall, beginning at Cannery Ballroom in Nashville, Tennessee on September 15th.
