  • Shawn Mendes Premieres Two New Songs “In My Blood” & “Lost In Japan”

  • Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes unveiled a new song “In My Blood” on streaming music services on March 22.

    The song is the first taste from his upcoming third album, which is expected to be released later in this year. The track recieved its first play during Apple Beats 1 with Zane Lowe. It was written by Robin Weisse, Scott Harris, Teddy Geiger, Geoff Warburton and Shawn Mendes.
    After the song release, he announced another one called “Lost In Japan”. The sound is '80s pop like Boz Scaggs. It was written by Scott Harris, Nate Mercereau, Teddy Geiger and Shawn Mendes.

    He told Zane Lowe about “In My Blood”;
    "We walked in the first day and we wrote 'In My Blood'. When we walked in, I was like, I want to make a Kings of Leon record. I want to go more rock.
    It was kind of something that hit me last year. Growing up, I was a pretty calm kid. I knew people who suffered from anxiety, found it kind of hard to understand, and then when it hits you, you’re like, Oh my god, this is crazy. Regardless of melodies or production, the only way things are going to get better is if it’s more honest. When I play that song, I go 'Just so you know I’m okay. When I play that song, I go ‘Just so you know I’m okay. The best thing about it is that it’s not all down. The whole reason I wrote the song was to be like, at the very end, ‘It’s not in my blood to do that.’"

  • He tweeted of the new song;
    "Just wanted to write this note before the song comes out tonight and say how excited I am for you all to hear it. I know I’ve been pretty quiet during this album process and I just wanted to thank you with all of my heart for being there and supporting me the entire time. This song is the closest song to my heart that I’ve ever written and I Hope you guys love it and all the new music coming your way. I love and appreciate you all so much! Thank you!"
