Keith Urban Premieres New Song “Coming Home” featuring Julia Michaels
New Zealand Australian country music singer-songwriter Keith Urban collaborated with American singer-songwriter Julia Michaels for a new song “Coming Home”.
It was co-written by Urban and co-producer J.R. Rotem along with Julie Michaels. The song is the latest offering from his upcoming tenth studio album “Graffiti U”, which will be released later in 2018.
The track was sampled from Merle Haggard's 1968 hit "Mama Tried". "I've had this idea to use certain samples from famous country songs to try to write something new from it," he told Billboard. "But I don't want to sort of gratuitously shove a sample into a song where it didn't flow, but I did want to try to use something to create something new, and I always loved the intro of 'Mama Tried,' the rolling guitar and the (Fender) Telecaster line that's well-known to country fans. To help me flesh out a few little bits and pieces, and then she had this cool bridge idea and she sang that, so she ended up on the song. It's a very specific piece, drawing from very different places from Merle to Julia to J.R. to what I do, all coming together."-
- The new album “Graffiti U” is his first LP in two years since "Ripcord". Also he announced 2018 Graffiti U World Tour dates. The tour kicks off at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre St. Louis on June 15, 2018. Learn more about tour date, click here.
He said about the album, “I’ve been full-on writing, recording, collaborating and creating with some incredibly talented people for Graffiti U, a lot of whom I’ve never worked with before. I can hear how some of the songs will translate live already, which really makes putting on a new show so exhilarating.” - source : Billboard
