American rock band Heartless Bastards' vocalist Erika Wennerstrom has released a new song "Twisted Highway". The track is taken from her upcoming solo debut album "Sweet Unknown" and premiered exclusively on Billboard.
She explained the new song, "'Twisted Highway' is the process of learning more self-awareness and self-acceptance. Writing songs over the years has forced me to do a lot of self reflection, and I haven't always liked what I see. I really needed to change my way of thinking though. I chose to focus on the negatives within myself. I really needed to stop and take a look at what's good in my life.
The solo album "Sweet Unknown" is due out March 23, 2018, produced by Danny Reisch. To date, she has released five album as Heartless Bastards between 2005 and 2015, but she didn't issued the solo album.
She said about solo project, "It was a really freeing experience. I found my strength in my vulnerability as an artist, and really, just as a person. It kind of forced me to allow myself to be a little more exposed and stand on my own two feet. It's easy to feel comfortable in a band, but it's scary to do it as just yourself. I feel like I've grown a lot creatively and personally."-
- She continued, "It's just more of me. It's as simple as that. I was able to get deeper and you get another level of my heart and soul. And, it's really about my journey of self-awareness and healing and finding acceptance and self-love. It's very empowering."
She embarks her solo tour in support of the solo album at Lidolino in Berlin, Germany on March 1, 2018. The tour takes place in Germany, London and North America through to April 14th.
